Seed Grant Program

Robert W. Jeffery 2023 Seed Grant Program

The University of Minnesota Healthy Weight Research Center (HWRC) is pleased to announce a request for research proposals. Grant funding is available for small-scale research projects that focus on weight loss, weight gain prevention, and behaviors that promote healthy weight (e.g., physical activity, nutrition). The intent is to support projects that provide pilot and feasibility data to support submission of an externally funded project such as an NIH R01.

This seed grant program is made possible because of the generous donation of Dr. Robert W. Jeffery. Dr. Jeffery is a psychologist by training and has led research on the treatment and prevention of obesity for over 35 years. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed articles in the area and is widely recognized as an expert in community approaches to obesity management. He was a founding Director of the University of Minnesota Obesity Prevention Center.
